My puppy can be in this and he doesn't reject it and I can interact with him. There is a breathable mesh in the backpack, and the top fabric can be lifted to let my puppy breathe.

I think my cat was calmer because he is able to see outside the carrier through the mesh panels. The mesh is very thick and coated. It's sturdy enough that I think a cat would have a difficult time trying to chew/claw through it.
The exterior zippers are secure and there is a board that inserts along the bottom so the carrier stays rigid when it's loaded with a cat.
I'm pleased with this carrier simply for the fact that it was more comfortable for me to transport my cat to the vet and I felt like he was secure inside the soft carrier.
